Prof. Emeritus Dov Zohar received his PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at the University of Maryland in 1975. Since then he has been at the Faculty of IE & Management at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Dov Zohar published the original paper on Safety Climate in 1980, which defined the concept and offered a measurement scale whose original and newer versions have become the standard in this field. Since then, Dov has conducted numerous research and consulting projects in countries around the globe. His recent work focuses on development of a conceptual model linking organizational culture and climate; testing the incremental effect of industry-specific safety climate scales; new strategies for safety leadership and safety climate improvement; and the effect of sustainability policy-practice gaps (de-coupling) on relevant organizational performance such as employee safety & health, diversity & inclusion, or justice & ethics.
