The area of statistics is composed of two distinct groups.
The first is the Statistics/Applied Statistics group whose research efforts are devoted to developing statistical tools and their applications to the statistical analysis of data coming from various research areas. Among the theoretical tools are studies of selective inference on multiple families of hypotheses, estimation of false discovery proportions and problems in model selection. Among the various applications is the statistical analysis of data coming from the Laboratory of Service Engineering with data coming from large call centers and from hospital wards.
The second is the Probability group which is a part of the Technion Probability group, split between the faculties of Mathematics, Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering. The topics covered by this group are mathematical models that appear in Statistical Physics, measure valued processes and Stochastic Partial Differential Equations, Markov processes and regenerative systems and their applications to Queueing Theory and Stochastic Control.
