Professor Avishai Mandelbaum joined the Faculty in 1987. He received his Ph.D in Operations Research and Mathematics from Cornell University in 1983. Prior to joining the Faculty, he was an assistant Prof. at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University 1983-1986.
His research, which has enjoyed various prizes, covers stochastic models (analysis, asymptotics, control) and statistics, with applications to queueing theory/science and service systems (e.g. tele-services, hospitals).
Prof. Mandelbaum holds the Benjamin & Florence Free chair in Operations Research, Statistics and Service Engineering and is an INFORMS fellow. He is the founder and director of the Technion SEE Laboratory at the Faculty and was the Dean of The William Davidson Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management during 2014–2017.
