Prof. Emeritus Bilha Mannheim joined the Faculty in 1960. She Received her PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Illinois in 1957. Prior to joining our Faculty Bilha was a Research Associate in Social Science in the Technion1957-1960.
Prof. Mannheim’s research spans a number of areas: social psychology of self-image, urban sociology, the impact of technology on the worker, retirement, work, the organizational system of work, attitudes to work, and, most importantly, the central role of the job.
Prof. Mannheim is the recipient of the 2003 Israel Prize in the Study of Sociology. She was the Yigal Alon Chair for the Study of People at Work in the Technion, (1981-1997) Prof. Mannheim was the first Coordinator of the Status of Women at the Technion, (1987-1991) and the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering & Management, Technion (1984).
